The Zamfara State Police Command, in collaboration with other security agencies, has successfully repelled an attempted incursion by armed bandits into Bukkuyum town, Bukkuyum Local Government Area of the State.
A statement signed by the command public relations officer DSP Yazid Abubakar said on 27th April 2026, at about 1930 hours, the Command received a distress call indicating that a large number of heavily armed bandits were advancing towards Bukkuyum town. In swift response, a Joint Security Task Force comprising Police operatives and other sister security agencies was immediately mobilized and deployed to intercept the assailants.
Upon contact, the bandits opened fire on the security operatives, leading to a sustained gun duel. The joint forces responded with superior tactical firepower, successfully neutralizing two of the attackers and forcing the remaining members of the group to retreat into the surrounding bushes.
The attempted incursion was effectively foiled, with the bandits denied access into the town. Normalcy has since been restored, and no casualties were recorded among security personnel during the operation.
Meanwhile, exploitation and combing operations are ongoing within the surrounding bushes and suspected escape routes to apprehend the fleeing suspects. Area dominance patrols have also been intensified in and around Bukkuyum town, while all tactical formations remain on maximum alert.
