Troops of the Nigerian Contingent 3 serving under the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA) have commenced their Post-Deployment Debriefing (PDD) at the Nigerian Army Peacekeeping Forward Operating Base (NAPKFOB), following the successful completion of a one-year peacekeeping mission in Abyei, South Sudan.
The debriefing, facilitated by a team from the Martin Luther Agwai International Leadership and Peacekeeping Centre (MLAIPKC) and led by the Deputy Commandant, Brigadier General EO Osho, marks a critical transition from operational deployment to institutional learning. He described the exercise as both a professional appraisal and a symbolic homecoming, while commending the contingent for its exemplary performance and enduring impact across the mission area.
In his address, the Deputy Chief of Operations (Army) Peace Support Operations, Major General IA Ajose, lauded the troops for their discipline, courage and professionalism. He noted that their conduct has further strengthened the Nigerian Army’s standing in United Nations peacekeeping missions. He also provided post-deployment guidance and security briefings to ensure a smooth and orderly reintegration process.
The Post-Deployment Debriefing involves structured activities, including detailed questionnaires and interactive sessions, designed to capture operational experiences and lessons learned. This process reinforces the Nigerian Army’s commitment to continuous improvement, operational excellence, and enhanced effectiveness in future peace support engagements.
