    The Executive Chairman of Zaria Local Government Council, Engr. Jamil Ahmad Muhammad Jaga, on Thursday, 5th June 2026, presided over the Peace and Security Council Meeting held at the Council Secretariat, Zaria.

    A statement signed by the chief press secretary office of the Chairman, Galadima Ishaq said the meeting convened heads and representatives of security agencies alongside key stakeholders to review the prevailing security situation across the Local Government and to deliberate on strategiesaimed at strengthening peace, preventing threats, and safeguarding lives and property.

    In his remarks, Engr. Jaga commended the security agencies for their dedication, professionalism, and continuous sacrifice in maintaining order. He emphasized the need for sustained collaboration, timely intelligence sharing, and active community participation in ensuring lasting peace and stability across all communities in Zaria.

    The Chairman reiterated that peace and security remain a top priority of his administration, assuring residents of the Council’s unwavering commitment to supporting all security efforts and initiatives that promote harmony and create an enabling environment for development.

    Among the issues discussed were the incidences of intercommunal thugs clashes and farmer–herder conflicts in some areas, with a strong emphasis on proactive measures aimed at preventing their recurrence and ensuring sustainable peace across affected communities.

    Those in attendance included representatives of the Nigerian Police Force (all Divisional Police Officers, DPOs), Department of State Services (DSS), National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS), and the Kaduna Vigilance Service (KADVS), as well as other relevant security formations operating within Zaria Local Government Area. Also present were traditional rulers and religious leaders who contributed to discussions on strengthening community-based peacebuilding.

    The Peace and Security Council Meeting continues to serve as a vital platform for dialogue, coordination, and strategic planning among stakeholders, aimed at proactively addressing security concerns and sustaining peaceful coexistence across Zaria Local government.
