    The Kano State Police Command, under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD, sfipma, mnim, mnips, masis, today convened a capacity-building engagement with operatives of the Command’s State Intelligence Department (SID), aimed at strengthening intelligence-led policing and deepening public trust.

    A statement signed by the command public relations officer CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, Police Public Relations Officer, Kano State Police Command said

    the session, held at the Police Officers’ Mess, Bompai, Kano, opened with welcome remarks by the Officer-in-Charge of SID, ACP Abdulkarim Abdullahi, who described the Commissioner’s direct engagement as “a great honour and a clear demonstration of unwavering commitment to strengthening intelligence-led policing and enhancing internal security within Kano State.

    ” He further assured of the Department’s “continued loyalty, dedication, and unwavering commitment to the constitutional responsibilities entrusted to the operatives as intelligence officers of the Nigeria Police Force.”

    In his address, CP Bakori charged SID operatives to remain alive to their core responsibility of providing timely, accurate, and actionable intelligence. He emphasized that:

    i. Discipline and professionalism must underpin all intelligence operations;

    ii. Public trust and confidence can only be earned through lawful, ethical, and people-centered conduct;

    iii. Adherence to the rule of law and due process is non-negotiable in all engagements;

    iv. Inter-agency synergy and information sharing are critical to pre-empting crime and protecting lives and property.

    The Commissioner commended the operatives for their commitment to duty and sacrifices in the fight against crime. He also reaffirmed the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Ridwan Disu, PSC(+), NPM, on prioritizing personnel welfare, insurance, and improved working conditions, urging SID operatives to reciprocate with renewed diligence and dedication.

    CP Bakori cautioned against unprofessional conduct, particularly the unauthorized use of social media and leakage of sensitive information, stressing that such acts erode public confidence and compromise operational integrity. He further urged the Department to sustain intelligence gathering while respecting human rights and the privacy of citizens.

    The engagement featured an interactive session where operatives raised operational concerns and received direct guidance from the Command leadership. It concluded with a renewed pledge by SID personnel to uphold the values, directives, and professional standards outlined by the Commissioner.

    The Kano State Police Command remains committed to intelligence-driven, accountable, and people-centered policing in line with the strategic vision of the Inspector-General of Police.
