The Adamawa State Independent Electoral Commission,ADSIEC has distributed the sensitive and non sensitive election materials for the conduct of Saturday’s local government elections across the 21 local government councils in the state.
Commissioner of Commission in charge of logistics and field Operations, Emman uel Anuhu Abba while monitoring the distribution of election materials in Yola on Friday assuring electorate efforts are on top gear to ensure a smooth and credible exercise.
Abba said trucks loaded with election materials have begun leaving for their respective destinations, with all local government areas already taking delivery ahead of the polls.
Abba explained that the commission has made special requests to the security agencies regarding the conduct of the exercise in two local councils with some security challenges including Lamurde and Madagali.
He maintained that, arrangements have been put in place to ensure the exercise commence promptly noting that apart from sending election materials on time, the electoral officials have been urged to follow the election guidelines strictly
“We have instructed all our Resident Electoral Officers to ensure that election materials are at the polling units by 8 a.m. so that voting can commence as scheduled,” he added.
While dismissing the speculation that some political parties logos are not on the election ballot papers, Commissioner confirmed that all 11 parties cleared by the commission have their names on the ballot paper.
According to him, the SDP, ADC, YPP, AAC, APC, PDP, APP, APM and Labour Party were among those participating and urged their supporters to ignore misinformation and come out to vote peacefully.
He stated that the commission is committed to organizing a free, fair and transparent local government councils election advising eligible voters to come out to exercise their democratic rights,
