    Third year Anniversary: Gov Dauda Lawal Pledged to continue to work harder for the development of the state.

    Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has reaffirmed the determination of his administration’s to enhancing security, driving development, and promoting good governance as he marked his third anniversary in office, coinciding with the 2026 Democracy Day celebrations.

    Speaking at the Democracy Day event held at Government House Gusau, Governor Lawal expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for the opportunity to serve the people of Zamfara State, while reflecting on his administration’s journey since assuming office in May 2023.

    He described the occasion as a moment to honour past heroes and renew dedication to the progress of Zamfara State and Nigeria at large.

    Governor Lawal emphasized that, democracy goes beyond elections, adding that, it encompasses service delivery, accountability, and the protection of lives and property.

    “It is about roads, schools, hospitals, water, food security, jobs, justice and equal opportunity just all. It is about giving every citizen the chance to live in peace and dignity. This is the understanding of democracy that has guided our administration from the beginning”

    On security, Governor Lawal stated that his administration has strengthened the state’s security architecture by supporting national security efforts to safeguard lives and property.

    In the education sector, he said the government has invested in school infrastructure, teacher training, and clearing outstanding obligations to restore confidence in public education.

    The governor also outlined achievements in the health sector, including the renovation and upgrading of hospitals across the state.

    Governor Dauda Lawal also cited the remodeling of Ahmad Sani Yariman Bakura Specialist Hospital in Gusau, the construction of a 200-bed hospital in Talata Mafara, and the completion of a long-awaited specialist hospital in Shinkafi as key milestones.

    In infrastructure development, he highlighted ongoing urban renewal initiatives particularly road construction, and the completion of the Gusau International Airport, which facilitated the direct airlift of pilgrims to Saudi Arabia.

    He added that, efforts are also underway to improve public facilities and expand access to alternative energy sources.

    According to him, Agriculture remains central to the state’s economy, with the government providing fertilizers, improved seeds, and other inputs to farmers to boost productivity and enhance food security.

    Dr Lawal reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to transparency and fiscal discipline, alongside ongoing reforms in the public service.

    “These include the digitization of government operations, prompt salary payments, implementation of the national minimum wage, and settlement of pension and gratuity arrears”

    While acknowledging that challenges remain, Governor Lawal maintained that Zamfara is on the path of steady progress and called on citizens to continue supporting government efforts, emphasizing that security and development require collective responsibility.

    The event was attended by top government officials, local government chairmen, traditional Rulersand other members of the public.
