The Executive Governor of Plateau State, Barrister Caleb Mutfwang has urged troops of 3 Division participating in the 2026 Inter-Brigade Warrant Officers and Senior Non-Commissioned Officers Competition to sustain excellence, demonstrate pride, determination and the true spirit of soldiering throughout the exercise. He gave the charge during the opening ceremony of the competition held on Monday, 15 June 2026, at Maxwell Khobe Cantonment, Jos.

It said the Governor who was represented by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Community Relations, Rt Hon Micheal Dapianlong described the competition as a vital platform for strengthening the qualities that define professional and exceptional soldiers. According to him, the event is far more than a test of physical endurance, as it serves as a powerful affirmation of the discipline, resilience, leadership and mental toughness required to overcome the challenges of military service. He noted that every stride taken and every effort exerted during the competition underscores the importance of maintaining peak physical and mental readiness in the discharge of military responsibilities.
The Governor further emphasized that military training and operational preparedness are not merely routine exercises but essential guarantees for sustaining peace, security and prosperity in the society. He therefore encouraged all participants to make the most of the opportunity by displaying professionalism, teamwork and a commitment to excellence throughout the competition. While expressing appreciation to the Nigerian Armed Forces, Governor Mutfwang commended the 3 Division Nigerian Army for its unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property as well as maintaining peace and stability across Plateau State.
Earlier in his opening remarks, the General Officer Commanding 3 Division Nigerian Army and Commander, Operation ENDURING PEACE, Major General Folusho Oyinlola, stated that the competition was conceived to enhance combat leadership qualities, organizational competence, and analytical capacity among Warrant Officers and Senior Non-Commissioned Officers within the Division. He reiterated that training remains the foundation of military success, noting that troops’ performance in both peace and wartime is largely determined by the quality of their training. He therefore urged participants to remain focused and committed in order to derive maximum benefit from the exercise while bringing honour to their respective formations.
The competition which is scheduled from 15 to 19 June 2026 within Maxwell Khobe Cantonment is designed to test and improve participants’ leadership skills, organizational ability, analytical thinking, initiative and physical fitness through a series of demanding activities. Participating formations include 6 Brigade, 23 Armoured Brigade, 33 Artillery Brigade, 3 Division Garrison, 43 Engineer Brigade and 53 Signals Brigade, all drawn from the Division’s Area of Responsibility.
The opening ceremony was attended by government officials, senior military officers, and representatives of various security and paramilitary agencies. Highlights of the event included oath taking by the participants and group photographs to commemorate the occasion..
