The Department of Anaesthesia, ABU Teaching Hospital Zaria, hosted a delegation from the West African College of Surgeons (WACS), for an accreditation and assessment visit aimed at evaluating the department’s capacity for postgraduate training and service delivery.
This is contained in a statement signed by the Head of information and public relations of the hospital Haruna Ibrahim,made available to newsmen.
It said the Chief Medical Director, Prof Ahmed Hamidu Umdagas represented by the Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee (CMAC), Prof Mohammed Ibrahim Zaria, welcomed the team and expressed appreciation for the visit.
He stated that the assessment would provide an opportunity for the team to observe the department’s training programme in action, verify the quality of clinical practice, and conduct a comprehensive evaluation without restriction.
In her remarks the Team Leader, Prof. Pola Faponle, said the delegation was in ABUTH Zaria, to assess the quality of the institution and to support the department and hospital in strengthening postgraduate training.
She noted that the team would conduct a thorough review to ensure all aspects of the training programme align with WACS requirements and best practices.
The visit was attended by members of the Top Management Committee of ABUTH, alongside consultants and resident doctors of the Department of anaesthesia.
