As part of efforts to ensure safety and quality services ,the Chief Medical Director, Prof. Ahmed Hamidu Umdagas, inaugurated the patient safety and quality assurance committee for the hospital.
A statement signed by the Head information and public relations, Haruna Ibrahim said the inauguration is in line with the directive of the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare (FMOH &SW), on strengthening clinical governance and patient safety in federal and state hospitals.
Prof Umdagas urged members to carry out their mandate with diligence and professionalism, in line with ABUTH’S mission of excellence in healthcare delivery, training and research.
The committee is expected to amongst others,provide a structured framework for clinical governance and patient safety within the hospital.
Oversee implementation of patient safety policies and quality improvement initiatives
Provide oversight of the institution’s quality and patient safety systems
Monitor compliance with national and international standards for patient care
The committee will advise Management on measures to prevent medical errors and improve clinical outcomes
The chairman of the committee Prof. Muhammad Ibrahim Zaria, Chairman Medical Advisory Committee CMAC, thanked the Management on behalf of the committee members and promised that the committee Will work assiduously to ensure the success of their assignment.
The establishment of the committee will strengthen ABUTH’s commitment to delivering safe, effective, and patient care. The committee will serve as the coordinating body for continuous improvement in clinical governance, risk management, and quality assurance across all department’s.
