    401 SPECIAL FORCES BRIGADE EMERGES WINNER OF 4 SPECIAL FORCES COMMAND INTER-BRIGADE WARRANT OFFICERS AND SNCOs COMPETITION 2026

    In a keenly contested competition, 401 Special Forces Brigade Nigerian Army has emerged overall winner of 4 Special Forces Command Nigerian Army Inter-Brigade Warrant Officers and Senior Non-Commissioned Officers Competition held from 15 – 19 June 2026 at 401 Special Forces Brigade, Makurdi.

    This was contained in a statement signed by Captain Tayo Oluwakemi Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations401 Special Forces Brigade Nigerian Army issued to newsmen.

    The Special Guest of Honour who doubles as Commander 4 Special Forces Command Nigerian Army Major General Olurotimi Azubuike Awolo stressed that the Command will continue to implement various training programmes and competitions in line with the Army Headquarters’ training directives and events.

    He reiterated that new skills will continue to be acquired, areas of weakness will be strengthened and worked upon to combat security challenges in the Command’s Area of Responsibility.

    He added that in line with the Chief of Army Staff Command Philosophy particularly the key pillars which centered on “professional excellence and combat readiness”, the Nigerian Army must continue to engage in training and retraining of officers and soldiers in order to sharpen their professional competence while appreciating the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu NAM for his immense support to the Command.

    The event had participants drawn from 4 Special Forces Command Garrison, 401 Special Forces Brigade and a combined team from 167/197 Special Forces Battalions respectively. The participating formations showcased exceptional leadership, technical prowess, and teamwork among others and they all competed in Skill at Arms/Weapon Handling, Combat Swimming, Map Reading, Foot/Rifle Drill and Physical Fitness/Obstacle Crossing.

    At the end of the Competition, 401 Special Forces Brigade topped the table by coming first position while 4 Special Forces Command Garrison came 2nd position and 167/197 Battalions took 3rd position.

    High points of the event were presentation of awards and trophies to the deserving formations, medals to individuals who distinguished themselves during the competition, presentation of souvenirs as well as group photographs.
