The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Shuaibu Waidi, has announced that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the recruitment of 28,000 soldiers into the Nigerian Army across the country.
Lieutenant General Waidi disclosed this during the graduation ceremony of the 90 Regular Recruit Intake at the Depot Nigerian Army, Zaria.
He explained that about 15,000 recruits have successfully completed their training at various Nigerian Army training institutions, including those in Zaria, Osogbo, and Abakaliki, and are now ready for deployment.
The Army Chief charged the graduating soldiers to remain loyal, professional, and committed to the core values of the Nigerian Army, including courage, discipline, integrity, and selfless service.
According to him, the high standard displayed during the passing-out parade reflects the quality of training and dedication invested in preparing the recruits for the task of safeguarding the nation.
Lieutenant General Waidi urged the graduates to sustain the spirit of excellence and contribute to strengthening the Nigerian Army’s reputation as a professional, disciplined, and combat-ready force capable of addressing emerging security challenges.
He emphasized the need for the new soldiers to build on the achievements of the Nigerian Army and uphold its tradition of patriotism and service to the nation.
The highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of awards to four outstanding soldiers who distinguished themselves in areas such as discipline, commitment, and overall performance during the training programme.
