    DG NYSC EXTOLS 3 DIVISION’S ROLE IN ENHANCING SECURITY AND SUPPORTING NATIONAL YOUTH SERVICE CORPS

    The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu has commended the 3 Division Nigerian Army and Operation ENDURING PEACE for their sustained efforts in maintaining peace and security in Plateau State, as well as their unwavering support to the activities of the NYSC in the state.

    A statement signed by Lieutenant Colonel Olumide Victor Olukoya Acting Deputy Director Army Public Relations 3 Division Nigerian Army said Brigadier General Nafiu made the commendation on 22 June 2026 during a courtesy visit to the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division Nigerian Army and Commander Operation ENDURING PEACE, Major General Folusho Oyinlola, at the Headquarters 3 Division, Maxwell Khobe Cantonment, Jos.

    While expressing appreciation for the warm reception accorded to him and members of his entourage, the NYSC Director-General thanked the GOC for the enduring partnership and support the Division has extended to the Scheme over the years. He noted that the prevailing security and stability in Plateau State, fostered by the efforts of 3 Division and Operation ENDURING PEACE has created a conducive environment for the successful implementation of NYSC programmes.

    The DG further observed that the discipline, professionalism and commitment demonstrated by officers and soldiers of the Division has played a significant role in shaping Corps Members into responsible and exemplary citizens. He also acknowledged the security support consistently provided to the Scheme, describing the peaceful atmosphere enjoyed by Corps Members in the state as a reflection of the purposeful leadership and strategic direction of the GOC.

    Responding, Major General Oyinlola expressed gratitude to the Director-General for the various reforms and innovations introduced since his assumption of office. He particularly lauded the initiative granting NYSC exemption certificates to Regular Combatant Officers pursuing higher academic qualifications, noting that the policy would contribute significantly to their intellectual development and professional growth. According to the GOC, the initiative will ultimately enhance operational effectiveness and improve the discharge of military responsibilities.

    Major General Oyinlola also described Brigadier General Nafiu as a disciplined and accomplished senior officer whose commitment to excellence has remained a hallmark of his career. He expressed confidence in the continued progress of the NYSC under his leadership and appreciated him for taking time to visit the Division. The GOC further assured the Director-General of the Division’s continued support for all NYSC activities and programmes noting that the security and welfare of Corps members in the state will remain top priorities.

    Highlights of the visit included the signing of visitors’ book by the Director-General, the exchange of souvenirs, and group photograph session.
