The Nigeria Police Force has successfully concluded its participation in the Specialized Training on Counter-Terrorism Investigations Train-the-Trainer Programme held from July 13 to 31, 2026, in Rabat, Kingdom of Morocco.

A statement signed by CSP Ani Iniedu force public relations officer, force headquarters Abuja said the programme, organised by the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT) under its Global Counter-Terrorism Investigations Programme in collaboration with Al Akhawayn University, brought together law enforcement personnel from Nigeria, Kenya, and Burkina Faso to enhance institutional cooperation and professional capacity in tackling terrorism, violent extremism, and transnational crime.

The ten-member Nigeria Police Force delegation, led by ACP Favour Fadawa of the Nigeria Police Academy, actively participated in the training designed to strengthen investigative competencies and promote intelligence-led approaches to counter-terrorism operations. The initiative focused on improving the identification of threat networks, disruption of criminal structures, preservation of admissible evidence, and ensuring accountability within the framework of the rule of law.

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, NPM, psc(+), reiterated that effective counter-terrorism investigations remain central to national and global security efforts. He emphasized that the knowledge and skills acquired from the programme would significantly enhance the operational capacity of the Force in combating evolving security threats and complex transnational criminal networks.

The IGP further charged the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Training and Development, DIG Isyaku Mohammed, PhD, FCNA, alongside the Commandant of the Nigeria Police Academy, to ensure the immediate institutionalisation of the training outcomes. He also noted that the accreditation and commencement process for the proposed Executive Master’s Programme at the Nigeria Police Academy is at an advanced stage, while commending UNOCT and its partners for the initiative.

The Nigeria Police Force expresses its appreciation to the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism, Al Akhawayn University, participating countries, and the Government and people of the Kingdom of Morocco for their support and hospitality. The Force remains committed to building a modern, intelligence-driven, and professionally competent policing institution capable of addressing terrorism and transnational crime, safeguarding communities, and contributing to regional and global peace.
