The Special Assistant to the Katsina State Governor on Innovation and Technology, Hon. Ibrahim Adamu, has said the state’s participation in the ReAct Africa Annual Conference 2026 reflects the government’s commitment to regional and global efforts to combat antimicrobial resistance, AMR.
Speaking after the conference held in Lusaka, Zambia, Adamu said the event provided Katsina with an opportunity to share experiences, learn from best practices across Africa, and engage with experts and development partners.
“The knowledge and partnerships established will strengthen our efforts to build a more resilient One Health system and improve health outcomes for the people of Katsina State,” he said.
Adamu joined policymakers, parliamentarians, researchers, civil society organisations, and technical experts to discuss practical solutions to AMR, described as one of the greatest threats to health, food systems and sustainable development.
“As one of the implementing states under the SARMAAN II Programme, Katsina contributed to discussions on AMR governance, surveillance, antimicrobial stewardship and multisectoral coordination through the One Health approach,” Adamu explained.
He added that the conference also explored the use of artificial intelligence, digital health, genomics and data-driven solutions to strengthen disease surveillance and accelerate progress towards Universal Health Coverage.
Adamu further declared that insights from the conference would support ongoing efforts to promote responsible antimicrobial use and improve collaboration across human, animal and environmental health sectors.
“The state also used the platform to strengthen partnerships with national and international organisations for technical cooperation, capacity building and resource mobilisation to further improve its health system,” he concluded
