    GOC 81 DIVISION COMMENDS NAIS LEADERSHIP, CHARGES STUDENTS ON PROFESSIONAL EXCELLENCE AND COMBAT READINESS

    The General Officer Commanding (GOC), 81 Division Nigerian Army, Major General Adebayo Babalola, has commended the leadership of the Nigerian Army Intelligence School (NAIS), Tego Barracks, Apapa, Lagos, for sustaining high training standards, while charging students to remain disciplined, professional and combat-ready.

    A statement signed by Lieutenant Colonel Musa Yahaya Acting Deputy Director Army Public Relations 81 Division Nigerian Army said the GOC gave the charge on Thursday, 6 August 2026, during the Second Quarter Courses’ Final Exercise 2026, codenamed Exercise DESERT CHASE and Exercise SPIDER WEB. The exercises were designed to enhance the students’ knowledge of Counter-Terrorism and Counter-Insurgeny Operations, while testing their practical application of intelligence in support of military operations.

    Major General Babalola stated that the exercise aligns with the Command Philosophy of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu NAM, which is “To Advance the Transformation of the Nigerian Army into a More Professional, Adaptable, Combat-Ready and Resilient Force Capable of Decisively Discharging Its Constitutional Responsibilities within a Joint and Multi-Agency Environment.” He urged the students to remain focused and committed to excellence, stressing that intelligence is a critical enabler of operational success.

    The GOC commended the Commandant, Brigadier General David Umaru, for his visionary leadership, and praised the directing staff and instructors for their dedication to producing competent and mission-ready intelligence personnel.

    Dignitaries that graced the occasion included the Commandant, Nigerian Army School of Finance and Administration, Brigadier General John Bulus, and Colonel George Ukeachu (Rtd). The event concluded with the signing of the Visitors’ Book and a group photograph with officers, instructors and students.
