Politics they say is the people,by the people and has been adjudged as the best form of governance in which people elect their representatives at various levels of government.
Among the post that contestants vie for includes the position of Local Government Chairmen, councilors at the third tier of governance, that’s the local government level.
Chairman of Zaria local government Eng Jamil Mohammad jaga was one of those duly elected by the electorates to serve them as council chairman.
In the last few years he has been on the saddle of the council, Engr Jamil Jaga has proven to be patriotic ,kind and workaholic in running the affairs of the council.
Investigation by our reporter in the ancient city of Zaria has shown that Engr, Jamil Jaga has been working assiduously with his council members to better the lives of the citizens.
Some of the people of the local government who responded affirmed that Engr Jamil Jaga has performed creditably well in the running of the local government,even surpassing past council chairmen.
They say the performance of the council chairman in various fields of human endeavour is superb,of high quality and can stand the test of time.
The projects executed by the chairman includes the following on Care delivery and given priority attention to the sector in view of its importance to the wellbeing of the residents of the area.
The chairman has not only upgraded health centres but also distributed several equipments, accessories and improve medical supplies in the affected health centres across the area.
Some of the Projects include the following…..
PHC Kwaba, Dutsen Abba Ward: We upgraded and comprehensively renovated the PHC, including the construction of semi-detached doctors’ quarters, a perimeter fence, and public conveniences. We also constructed a public toilet and drainage system within the facility.
Additionally the PHC Jakara Kusfa, Limancin Kona Ward has been comprehensively renovated and expanded the PHC, including the construction of security quarters, landscaping, and wire fencing to improve the facility’s security and environment.
As regards the PHC in Anguwan Bishar the council is currently undertaking the comprehensive renovation of the facility, with the project ongoing.
Apart from renovation,Hospital Equipment has also been distributed to hospital equipment across all 13 ward PHCs in Zaria Local Government to improve the quality of healthcare services available to residents.
Similarly the council has also supplied free Essential Drugs constantly distribute free to all Primary Health Centres across the local government.
The Chairman has also facilitated Medical Assistance worth over ₦30 million to less privileged members of the community.
On Emergency Health Response the council has provided emergency funding and swift response during the Diphtheria and Cholera outbreaks, while also constantly supporting PHCs with medical supplies and logistics during Polio and Routine Immunization campaigns.
the Educational Development of the area, since assumption of office,Zaria Local Government, under the leadership of Engr.Jamil Ahmad Muhammad, has implemented several impactful initiatives in the education sector.
Some of these measures taken to improve and provide quality education to the citizenry, the council has introduced Need-Based Scholarship Scheme in which the council has paid need-based scholarships for over 500 students in tertiary institutions, the first of its kind in the history of Zaria Local Government.
Also JAMB and NECO Fees were paid for 2,000 students and NECO fees for 1,000 students.
The council has also introduced the initiative of giving Scholarships for Top 10 JAMB Scorers in Zaria Local Government, covering their tuition and registration fees. Their education will be fully funded until graduation in any public university of their choice.
At Bath Torrey Home, Tukur-Tukur: the council has completed two blocks of classrooms, constructed a drainage system, and renovated the kitchen at Bath Torrey Home, Tukur-Tukur.
Safeguarding Schools in the area, the council has initiated a School Security system ,in which the council employed over 183 security guards across primary & Secondary schools in Zaria Local Government to improve the safety and security of pupils and school facilities.
No doubt, Engr Jamil Jaga has endeared himself to the people of the local government through his humility, kindness, carrying everybody along especially in the execution of laudable projects across the 13 wards of the local government.
These and many other projects have positively impacted on the lives of the people of the local government, thereby enhancing the chances of the reelection of not only Governor Uba Sani, Speaker of the house of representatives, Dr Tajudeen Abbas but also President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the next General Elections.
