Borno State Governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, the Shehu of Borno, His Royal Highness Dr. Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai Elkanemi, the Deputy Speaker and other members of the Borno State House of Assembly were among hundreds of mourners who attended the funeral prayer of late Senator Kaka Malam Yale.
The funeral prayer was performed by the Chief Imam of Borno, Imam Laisu Ibrahim Ahmed, shortly after the Juma’at prayer at the Maiduguri Central Mosque.
Other dignitaries at the prayers included the Acting Chief of Staff to the Governor, commissioners, former Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai, the Theatre Commander of Operation Hadin Kai, the Waziri of Borno, traditional rulers and other prominent personalities.
Paying tribute to the late senator, Governor Zulum described him as a consummate administrator and a grassroots politician who contributed immensely to the development of the state.
“Today we have lost another statesman. Senator Kaka Malam Yale was a renowned administrator, a grassroots politician whose legacy will continue to be remembered,” Zulum said.
“His death is indeed a great loss to the state and beyond. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and associates,” he added.
The Governor prayed to Almighty Allah to grant the late senator Aljannatul Firdaus and to grant his family the fortitude to bear the loss.
Senator Kaka Malam Yale died in the early hours of Friday in Maiduguri at the age of 73. He held several political and administrative positions within and outside the state, including Senator representing Borno Central from 2007 to 2011; Commissioner of Health and later Education; Chairman of the Borno State Local Government Service Commission, from 2016 to 2024; and Chairman of Konduga Local Government from 1999 to 2002 among other positions.
