& PROGRESSIVE YOUTH FORUM (PYF), BADIKKO

Kaduna South Local Government Area, Kaduna State

    Date: 29th August, 2026

    AN OPEN LETTER TO

HIS EXCELLENCY, SENATOR UBA SANI, CON

    GOVERNOR OF KADUNA STATE

SIR KASHIM IBRAHIM GOVERNMENT HOUSE, KADUNA

Subject: APPEAL FOR URGENT INTERVENTION ON ROAD INFRASTRUCTURE AND DRAINAGE SYSTEM IN BADIKKO COMMUNITY, KADUNA SOUTH LGA – HOST TO SIR KASHIM IBRAHIM GOVERNMENT HOUSE, 44 NARH, AND KADUNA POLYTECHNIC

    Your Excellency,

On behalf of the Badikko Reformers Group (BRG) and the Progressive Youth Forum (PYF), Badikko, we write to respectfully bring to your attention the deplorable state of road infrastructure and the drainage system in Badikko Community, Kaduna South Local Government Area.

Your Excellency, Badikko Community is of strategic importance to Kaduna State, as it hosts Sir Kashim Ibrahim Government House, the seat of power of Kaduna State; the 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital (44 NARH), a foremost military medical institution; and a section of the prestigious Kaduna Polytechnic, one of Nigeria’s leading tertiary institutions.

Furthermore, Badikko serves as a major transit corridor for hundreds of thousands of residents from Hayin Dan-Mani, Mahuta, and Kurmin Mashi who commute daily to the Central Market and Old Panteka Market for commercial activities.

Despite this strategic importance, Badikko has suffered infrastructural neglect since the return of democracy in 1999.

The roads within Badikko and its access routes are in a state of severe disrepair, characterised by potholes, erosion, and a lack of asphalt overlay. The situation is compounded by a poor drainage system.

Your Excellency, going by this year’s flood alert forecast by NiMet and NEMA, Badikko is at high risk of severe flooding. If urgent action is not taken, we anticipate the complete collapse of the remaining roads, the submergence of homes, and disruption of access to Government House, 44 NARH, and Kaduna Polytechnic during the peak of the rainy season.

Your Excellency, we wish to state that the people of Badikko Community, Kaduna South LGA, have consistently demonstrated their loyalty and support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) government since 2015. As stakeholders and loyal party members, we believe our community deserves to benefit from the dividends of democracy under your “Kaduna for All” agenda.

The current state of infrastructure in Badikko is negatively impacting:

    1. Governance at Sir Kashim Ibrahim Government House due to poor vehicular access.

    2. Healthcare delivery at 44 NARH due to delayed access by patients and medical personnel.

    3. Academic activities at Kaduna Polytechnic due to flooding and bad roads affecting students and staff.

    4. Economic activities for traders and commuters plying the routes to Central Market and Old Panteka.

    5. Security response time and the general well-being of residents.

In view of the foregoing, and in light of the impending flood forecast, we respectfully appeal to Your Excellency to graciously approve the following:

    1. Immediate comprehensive assessment of all roads and drainage channels in Badikko by the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure.

    2. Immediate commencement of the construction of all major roads within Badikko Community.

    3. Construction of standard drainage systems as an emergency flood mitigation measure.

    4. Priority attention to access roads leading to Sir Kashim Ibrahim Government House, 44 NARH, Kaduna Polytechnic, and the economic corridors linking Hayin Dan-Mani, Mahuta, and Kurmin Mashi to Central Market and Old Panteka.

    5. A stakeholder engagement meeting with the leadership of BRG and PYF Badikko within seven days to discuss emergency intervention and implementation modalities.

Your Excellency, we have absolute confidence in your leadership and your commitment to inclusive development. We trust that this appeal will receive your urgent and favourable consideration to avert a humanitarian crisis.

Please accept, Your Excellency, the assurances of our highest regards and continued support.

    Sincerely submitted,

    E-signed

Sharifudeen Ibrahim Muhammad, FIMC, MNIPR, MICA, MNUJ, ANIM, AIIPS
