The rising pump price of petrol is generating fresh concerns among consumers in Zaria, Kaduna State, with residents lamenting its impact on household expenses and the cost of living.

Speaking with our correspondent, some consumers said the latest increase has added to the economic hardship Nigerians have faced since the removal of fuel subsidy three years ago.

They expressed concern that frequent changes in government policies and rising costs of essential commodities are placing additional pressure on households, particularly low- and middle-income earners.

The consumers appealed to the Federal and State Governments, as well as lawmakers, to intensify measures aimed at reducing economic hardship and protecting the welfare of citizens.

They also called on petroleum marketers to show consideration by allowing existing stock purchased at the previous price to be sold at the old pump price, rather than immediately transferring the new price to consumers.

For the residents, the continuous increase in petrol prices has become a major burden, with its ripple effects felt across transportation, food prices and other essential services.
