The Executive Chairman of Zaria Local Government Council, Engr. Jamil Ahmad Muhammad Jaga, had another busy and fulfilling day of community engagement, youth empowerment, support for vulnerable groups, and interaction with residents across Zaria.
A statement signed by Galadima Ishaq Chief Press Secretary, Office of the Executive Chairman, Zaria Local Government Council said the Chairman began the day by attending the NDIAS 2026 Graduation and Closing Ceremony of the NAZAS Digital Innovation & AI Summit, organised by the National Association of Zazzau Students (NAZAS) at the Federal University of Education, Zaria.
He commended the initiative for equipping young people with valuable knowledge and skills in Digital Innovation and Artificial Intelligence, stressing the importance of preparing youths for the opportunities of a rapidly changing world. In support of the programme, he donated ₦200,000.
He thereafter attended the Taron Kaddamar da Kungiyar Gamayyar Limaman Khamsu Salawat, Darika da Izala at Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic, Zaria, where he commended the spirit of unity and collaboration among Islamic scholars and organisations. He supported the association with ₦500,000.
The Chairman also attended the closing ceremony of “DAGA BAKIN MAI ITA,” a two-day skills acquisition programme organised by Gidauniyar Ina Mafita for Social Development Foundation at Alhuda-Huda College, Zaria.
As part of his support for the beneficiaries, Jaga donated 15 new sewing machines to orphans, providing them with practical means of livelihood and supporting their future development.
He further provided ₦2 million to 40 widows, with ₦50,000 each as start-up capital to enable them to put their newly acquired skills into practice, establish small businesses and improve their livelihoods.
The Chairman also supported the foundation’s marriage initiative with ₦300,000 for three orphans who are preparing for marriage.
CONDOLENCE VISITS
Beyond empowerment and development activities, the Chairman paid condolence visits to Magajin Fada in Unguwar Zaria, behind GSS Zaria, following the death of his father, and Sani Dogara (Protocol) in Unguwar Bishar (Famfo), over the passing of his mother.
He prayed Almighty Allah to forgive the departed souls, grant them Aljannatul Firdausi, and give their families the strength and fortitude to bear the loss.
ENGAGEMENT WITH COMMUNITY GROUPS
Back at the Council Secretariat, the Chairman received representatives of Madrasatu Mu’allim Lawal Wa Khadijah Fi Dirasat Al-Islamiyya Wal Arabiyya, Sabuwar Unguwar Kofar Gayan, alongside members of the Kainuwa Dashen Allah Women Association, Zaria, led by Hajiya Rukayya Abubakar.
During the engagement, Hajiya Rukayya and hundreds of members of the association formally announced their defection from the PDP to the APC, citing their appreciation of the developmental interventions of Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani CON, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen GCON, in Zaria and Kaduna State.
The Chairman welcomed the members and donated ₦150,000 to the association.
Engr. Jamil Ahmad Muhammad Jaga expressed appreciation to everyone who visited, engaged with him and shared their concerns and aspirations throughout the day.
He reiterated that leadership goes beyond occupying an office, stressing the importance of being present, listening to the people, responding to their needs and remaining connected to the community.
