As I mark my 61st birthday, I do so with a heart filled with gratitude. Gratitude for family, for friends, for colleagues, for the people of Zaria Federal Constituency, and for the countless Nigerians whose trust and goodwill continue to inspire my public service.
Every year teaches us something new. Every responsibility adds another layer to our understanding of leadership. And every challenge reminds us that public office is not a privilege to be possessed, but a trust to be honoured.
My journey has taken me from the classrooms of learning to the chambers of legislation and, today, to the leadership of the 10th House of Representatives. At every turn, I have been guided by a simple conviction: leadership must ultimately be measured by the lives it touches and the difference it makes.
I am particularly grateful for the opportunity to serve as Speaker of the House of Representatives at a time when our democracy is evolving and our nation is confronting complex challenges. Together with my colleagues, we remain committed to building a Parliament that listens, legislates with purpose, promotes accountability and keeps the interests of the Nigerian people at the heart of its work.

At 61, I am reminded that the journey of service has no finish line. There is always more to learn, more to give, more to build and more lives to touch.
As the African proverb says, “A person does not become great by standing on the shoulders of others, but by helping others rise.”
My prayer today is simple: that Almighty Allah grants me continued wisdom, good health, strength and the humility to serve with distinction.
To everyone who has celebrated with me, supported me, prayed for me and walked with me through the years, I am deeply grateful.
61 is not a destination. It is another milestone on a journey of service.
