The All Progressives Congress (APC), Kebbi State Chapter, has revoked the suspension of its State Chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Muhammad Kana-Zuru, and reinstated him with immediate effect after three months.
The decision was announced on Thursday by the State Publicity Secretary of the party, Alhaji Isah Abubakar Assalafi, while addressing a press conference at the APC State Secretariat in Birnin Kebbi.
Assalafi recalled that the Kebbi State Working Committee (SWC), at its meeting held on June 20, 2026, adopted Resolution No. KSWC/010/2026, suspending Alhaji Abubakar Muhammad Kana-Zuru from the office of State Chairman of the party.
He explained that following a review of subsequent circumstances and developments surrounding the suspension, the State Working Committee resolved to revoke the earlier decision and restore Kana-Zuru to office.
According to the resolution adopted at the SWC meeting held on October 1, 2026, at the APC State Secretariat in Birnin Kebbi:
“That the suspension of Alhaji Abubakar Muhammad Kana from the office of State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Kebbi State, pursuant to Resolution No. KSWC/010/2026 dated 20th June 2026, is hereby revoked with immediate effect.”
The party consequently declared Alhaji Abubakar Muhammad Kana-Zuru fully reinstated as State Chairman, with immediate resumption of the full functions, powers, duties and responsibilities attached to the office
The resolution further terminated the interim arrangement under which Alhaji Adamu Mudi Augie had been performing the functions of Acting State Chairman.
“Accordingly, Alhaji Adamu Mudi Augie shall cease to act as Acting State Chairman and shall resume his substantive office as Deputy State Chairman,” Assalafi stated.
He added that all official records, documents, correspondence, instruments and other affairs relating to the office of State Chairman are to be handed over to and revert to Alhaji Abubakar Muhammad Kana-Zuru forthwith.
The State Working Committee also directed the State Secretary to formally communicate the resolution to the appropriate organs of the party, including the National Headquarters, for information, record and necessary action in accordance with the APC Constitution and applicable directives of the party.
Assalafi emphasised that the resolution takes effect immediately upon its adoption by the State Working Committee.
The decision, he said, reflects the authority of the duly constituted organs of the party to review its decisions in accordance with the party’s Constitution and established procedures.
The Kebbi APC therefore expects all party organs, officials, members and stakeholders to recognise and respect the resolution, as Alhaji Abubakar Muhammad Kana-Zuru resumes his constitutional responsibilities as State Chairman of the party.
The resolution was duly adopted by the Kebbi State Working Committee at its meeting held on October 1, 2026, at the APC State Secretariat, Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State
