As part of the continuous efforts towards moulding the recruits of 91 Regular Recruits Intake (RRI), the Depot Nigerian Army Amasiri-Edda conducted 10 km Race Competition today Saturday, 10 October 2026 at the Depot temporary training area.
A statement signed by Captain Sarah Seth Barka Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations Depot Nigerian Army Amasiri-Edda said this marks the third physical fitness test lined up for training of the 91 RRI. It was aimed to improve the recruits endurance, building esprit-de-corps, and resilience.
The endurance race showcased the recruits’ physical resilience, mental toughness, and combat fitness. The participants comprised recruits from the 10 training companies. The recruits showcased remarkable stamina and ruggedness, reflecting the Depot’s unwavering commitment to molding physically robust and battle-ready soldiers.

Flagging off the competition, the Special Guest of Honour (SGOH), Brigadier General OA Adejoro Abdullahi alongside the commandant Depot Nogerian Army Amasiri-Edda Brigadier General Ahmed Ahmadu encouraged the recruits to give their utmost best in the competition and to compete with the spirit of sportsmanship .

Later in his remarks, the SGOH commended the high level of discipline and physical fitness displayed by all the competitors, noting that the race showed improved physical fitness and comradeship among the recruits. He urged them to continue to put in their best in all aspects the training as they progress in their transformation into professional soldiers. He further commended the commandants and his team for the good efforts towards moulding these recruits into young soldiers. He also thanked the commandant for inviting him to grace this remarkable event as the SGOH. The event was graced by the Chief of Staff Depot NA Amasiri-Edda Col AS Ahmadu, Chief Instructor Training Branch, Colonel TA Lamidi, Commander Recruits Centre, Colonel U Onyenania, alongside other senior officers, officers and instructors of the Depot.
High points of the event included the ceremonial flag-off, intense competition among the companies, announcement of results, presentation of awards and gifts to the participants, presentation of a memento to the SGOH by the Commandant as well as group photographs. The event climaxed with Alpha training company dominating the competition as the overall best company.
