Speaking on Tuesday, at the ICC headquarters in Katsina, Governor Radda made the remarks during the inauguration of coordinators across the state’s 34 local government areas and 361 wards.
“This is something new in the history of politics in Katsina State. The establishment of an Independent Campaign Council dedicated to the success of our party, the APC, is a commendable initiative,” he said.
A statement signed by Ibrahim kaula Mohammed, Chief Press Secretary to the Governor said Governor Radda stressed that political success required collective responsibility, cooperation and sustained engagement among party members and stakeholders before and after elections.
“Politics is not the responsibility of one person alone. It is a collective responsibility. We have embraced this initiative because we recognise the importance of working together before elections and sustaining that cooperation after elections,” he observed.
He commended political leaders and stakeholders from the 34 local government areas for attending the inauguration, describing their presence as a demonstration of support for the initiative.
The governor urged the ICC to serve as a unifying platform for APC members and leaders at all levels, including state and federal lawmakers, senators, the governor and the President.
“The ICC should become a movement that unites our party from top to bottom. We must work together across all levels of leadership to strengthen the APC and advance our shared political objectives,” he said.
Governor Radda also appreciated members who had committed their personal resources to sustaining the initiative, describing their sacrifices as commendable.
He welcomed the council’s online registration platform, noting that the reported 386,000 registrations reflected encouraging interest in the initiative.
Earlier, the General Manager of the Rural Electrification Board and promoter of the ICC initiative, Engr. Abubakar Matazu, disclosed that more than 386,000 people had voluntarily registered with the council without formal incentives or pressure.
He said the response demonstrated growing public interest in the movement and its vision for Katsina State.
“The remarkable response demonstrates that citizens see the ICC as more than a campaign council. It reflects growing interest in a movement of forward-thinking individuals committed to the progress and development of Katsina State,” Matazu said.
He added that the registrations reflected confidence in the movement’s leadership and membership, assuring that the council remained committed to supporting the state’s progress and prosperity.
Matazu thanked Governor Radda for his support and guidance, pledging the council’s continued commitment to its objectives.
Also speaking, the Executive Director of the Katsina State Internal Revenue Service (KTIRS), Dr. Kabir Abdullahi, said the initiative was conceived in 2023 to complement the state’s development efforts with an organised platform for political mobilisation in support of Governor Radda’s political aspirations.
