    ABU congratulates Prof Aliyu on appointment as PTDF’s new Executive Secretary

    Ahmadu Bello University has congratulated Prof Shu’aibu Shehu Aliyu on his appointment by the Federal Government as the Executive Secretary of the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF).

    His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, approved the appointment in a statement today (Thursday, 2nd April, 2026) by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.

    The statement said Aliyu’s appointment underscored President Tinubu’s commitment to strengthening key institutions in the petroleum sector and advancing capacity development for Nigeria’s energy industry.

    He replaced Ahmed Galadima Aminu who had just resigned.

    Prof Aliyu, former Director, Arewa House Centre for Historical Documentation and Research, Ahmadu Bello University, is a distinguished academic and historian.

    Aliyu, who teaches at the Department of History, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, is famous for his extensive contributions to the field of history.

    Congratulating Prof Aliyu, the Vice-Chancellor, Ahmadu Bello University, Prof Adamu Ahmed, on behalf of the university management, staff, and students, felicitated with Aliyu on what he described as a well-deserved appointment.

    The Vice-Chancellor expressed confidence that the PTDF’s new Executive Secretary would deploy his wealth of experience to reposition the agency in line with President Tinubu’s renewed hope for Nigeria.

    Prof Aliyu, according to the Vice-Chancellor, possessed the academic and leadership skills to successfully handle the new national assignment.

    The Vice-Chancellor appreciated most sincerely President Tinubu for picking the right person to strengthen PTDF for the overall development of Nigeria’s petroleum sector.
