    1 BRIGADE, CJTF GUSAU STRENGTHEN SYNERGY IN FIGHT AGAINST BANDITRY AND CRIMINALITY

    The Commander, Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), Gusau, Zamfara State, Alhaji Ahmad Mohammed, alongside members of his team, on Wednesday, 2 September 2026, paid a courtesy visit to the Acting Commander, 1 Brigade Nigerian Army, Col J Umaru, at the Brigade Headquarters, Gusau, Zamfara State.

    A statement signed by Captain Yusuf Mohammed Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations 1 Brigade Nigerian Army, Gusau said the visit was aimed at further strengthening the existing synergy between the Nigerian Army and the CJTF in the collective fight against terrorism, banditry and other forms of criminality in the State.

    In a show of solidarity and renewed commitment to the fight against insecurity, over 400 CJTF personnel from Gusau alone assembled at the Brigade Headquarters to reaffirm their support for the Nigerian Army and their readiness to contribute to ongoing efforts aimed at restoring peace and security across Zamfara State. The large turnout underscored the strong partnership and confidence existing between the military and community-based security stakeholders.

    Speaking during the visit, the CJTF Commander, Alhaji Ahmad Mohammed, assured the Acting Commander of the CJTF’s continued cooperation and readiness to work closely with the Nigerian Army in identifying and addressing security threats within the State. He emphasized the importance of sustained collaboration in intelligence gathering, information sharing and community engagement, noting that the CJTF’s close interaction with local communities places it in a strategic position to provide timely and actionable information to security forces.

    Responding, the Acting Commander 1 Brigade, Col J Umaru, expressed appreciation to the CJTF Commander and the over 400 personnel for their continued support and commitment to the security of Zamfara State. He particularly commended the CJTF for its contributions to intelligence gathering and information sharing, stressing that such support remains critical to enhancing the Brigade’s operational effectiveness and enabling troops to respond promptly to emerging security threats.

    Col Umaru noted that the fight against terrorism, banditry and other criminal activities requires a coordinated and whole-of-society approach involving the military, other security agencies and responsible community stakeholders. He therefore urged the CJTF to sustain its cooperation with the Brigade, particularly through timely intelligence sharing, community engagement and support to security operations.

    The Acting Commander reaffirmed the Brigade’s commitment to maintaining an open channel of communication and further deepening its partnership with the CJTF. He stressed that the collective efforts of security forces and community-based stakeholders would serve as a force multiplier in denying criminal elements freedom of action and creating a safer environment for law-abiding citizens.

    The visit concluded on a positive note, with the Nigerian Army and the CJTF reaffirming their shared resolve to sustain their synergy and collective efforts towards combating insecurity and restoring lasting peace and stability across Zamfara State.
