Adamawa state Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has urged Muslims to uphold the virtues of love, forgiveness, and compassion in their endeavors.

Governor Fintiri made this passionate appeal shortly after the two Raka’at Eid prayer held at the Yola Eid Ground noting that Eid-el-Kabir is s a sacred festival that symbolizes sacrifice, obedience, and complete submission to the will of Allah.

Earlier in his sermon Chief Imam of the Modibbo Adama Central Mosque Yola, Khadi Ahmadu Bobboi, highlighted the spiritual significance of Eid-el-Kabir, recalling Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son in total obedience to Allah’s command.

Khadi Bobboi encouraged Muslims with the financial means to sacrifice healthy animals in accordance with Islamic teachings and the tradition of Prophet Muhammad reminding the faithfuls that the celebration goes beyond festivity but the need for spiritual reflection, devotion, and renewed commitment to Islamic values.

He added that, Eid-el-Kabir celebration also serves as a reminder of the importance of sacrifice for the sake of peace, family unity, community development, and national progress

However, In Nigeria, the festival continues to strengthen bonds among Muslim communities while promoting peaceful coexistence among people of diverse backgrounds. It equally provides an opportunity for reconciliation, forgiveness, and the strengthening of communal and family ties

Globally, Eid-el-Kabir reflects the universal values of compassion, generosity, and humanity, bringing Muslims together in collective worship regardless of race, nationality, or culture. Religious leaders across the world often use the occasion to advocate peace, tolerance, honesty, justice, and unity among citizens and leaders alike.

Beyond its spiritual relevance, the celebration also stimulates economic activities, particularly in livestock trading, transportation, food sales, clothing, and other businesses associated with the festive period.

The celebration is ongoing peacefully in the state as both Muslims are enjoying the two day public holidays declared by the federal government for Wednesday and Thursday across the country in commemoration of the sallah festivity
