The Executive Chairman of Zaria Local Government Council, Engr. Jamil Ahmad Muhammad Jaga, on Saturday led thousands of party loyalists, supporters, community stakeholders, and grassroots mobilizers to the grand declaration ceremony of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, Ph.D., GCON, Iyan Zazzau, for his fifth-term bid to represent the people of Zaria Federal Constituency.

Speaking in his dual capacity as the Chief Host of the historic event and Director General of the campaign structure, Engr. Jamil Jaga described the declaration as “a defining moment in the political history of Zaria Federal Constituency and a celebration of impactful leadership.”
The Chairman noted that the overwhelming turnout witnessed across major streets of Zaria and at the Mallawa Eid Ground clearly demonstrated the confidence, trust, and acceptance Speaker Abbas enjoys among the people.
According to him, the solidarity walk which commenced from the Emir’s Palace through Babban Dodo, Lemu, Kofar Doka, and Tudun Wada axis reflected the unity and commitment of the people towards sustaining quality representation and progressive leadership.
Engr. Jaga stated that under the leadership of Speaker Abbas, Zaria Federal Constituency has witnessed remarkable transformation through people-oriented projects, educational interventions, infrastructural development, healthcare improvements, youth empowerment programmes, and economic support initiatives.
“Today is not merely about politics; it is about appreciating a leader whose representation has brought visible development to our communities. The people of Zaria have seen practical governance, effective legislation, and direct impact on their daily lives,” the Chairman stated.
He added that the Speaker’s interventions in education through scholarships, support for students, rehabilitation of schools, and facilitation of the Education City Project have positioned Zaria as a major educational hub in Northern Nigeria.
The Chairman further commended Speaker Abbas for facilitating healthcare projects, including the newly commissioned 100-bed Specialist Hospital, as well as the establishment and support of primary healthcare centres across communities.
Engr. Jaga noted that thousands of youths, women, traders, transport operators, artisans, and farmers have benefited from various empowerment programmes facilitated by the Speaker through vehicles, tricycles, motorcycles, agricultural support, grants, and vocational opportunities.
“This is the kind of representation our people deserve — leadership that listens, leadership that delivers, and leadership that remains connected to the grassroots,” he emphasized.
The Chairman also praised the Speaker’s performance at the national level, describing his emergence as Speaker of the 10th House of Representatives as a source of pride not only to Zaria but to Kaduna State and Northern Nigeria at large.
He stated that under Speaker Abbas’ leadership, the House of Representatives has remained focused on legislation aimed at improving governance, strengthening security, expanding educational access, and promoting economic reforms for national development.
Engr. Jaga expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his continued support towards developmental initiatives in Kaduna State and Zaria Federal Constituency.
He equally commended the Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani, for fostering peace, infrastructural development, and inclusive governance across the state.
The Chairman thanked the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), traditional rulers, religious leaders, elders, women groups, youth associations, professionals, market unions, artisans, and supporters for their unwavering commitment and support towards the success of the event.
“As a local government administration, we remain fully committed to supporting every effort aimed at sustaining development, unity, and progress within our constituency and Kaduna State as a whole,” Engr. Jaga assured.
He called on the people of Zaria Federal Constituency to continue supporting Speaker Abbas Tajudeen in order to consolidate the gains achieved over the years and ensure sustained access to opportunities and development at the national level.
“The journey of progress must continue. Zaria deserves experienced leadership, strong representation, and continuity of purposeful governance. Speaker Abbas has proven his capacity, competence, and commitment to the people,” the Chairman concluded.
