The Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Waidi Shaibu (NAM), has charged graduating Warrant Officers and Senior Non-Commissioned Officers (SNCOs) to serve as agents of change and transformation as well provide effective leadership and mentorship in their respective units and formations.
A statement signed by Lieutenant Koni Elizabeth Kambai Ag Assistant Director Army Public RelationsWarrant Officers’ Academy aaid he gave the charge during the Graduation Ceremony of Warrant Officers’ Academy Course 47/2026 held at Ihejirika Auditorium, Jaji Military Cantonment, Kaduna, on Friday, 5 September 2026.
In his Graduation Remarks, the COAS, represented by the Commander Infantry Corps Centre, Maj Gen Godwin Mutkut (OFR), described the event as a milestone in strengthening junior leadership and improving the operational effectiveness of the Nigerian Army and the Armed Forces of Nigeria. He noted that Warrant Officers and SNCOs play a critical role in bridging the gap between officers and enlisted cadre for smooth operational understanding and communication as well as urged the graduands to apply the knowledge gained during the 22-week course to enhance administration, mentorship, professionalism, and operational performance in their units.
Maj Gen Mutkut commended the Commandant, instructors, and staff of the Academy for the successful conduct of the course, and highlighted the participation of Nigerian Navy personnel as a boost to inter-service cooperation. He also disclosed plans to include personnel from Liberia, The Gambia, and Benin Republic in future courses. He encouraged the graduates to uphold discipline, innovation, and professionalism in all areas of duty, including Artificial Intelligence and Unmanned Aerial Vehicle operations.
Earlier, the Commandant. Warrant Officers’ Academy, Brig Gen Anthony Wende, welcomed guests to the ceremony and appreciated the COAS for his support. He congratulated the 81 graduands for successfully completing the rigorous training and charged them to remain disciplined, courageous, and professional in their duties, while commending instructors and supporting formations.
