The Niger State governor, farmer Mohammed Umaru Bago has commended the fifth chukker polo and Country Club for the efforts being made to sustain the tradition of the age long polo game .
A statement signed by the chief press secretary to the Governor, Bologi Ibrahim said the farmer governor gave the commendation during the ongoing Charity Shield polo tournament held at Fifth Chukker Polo and Country club, Kaduna.
Farmer Umaru Bago who is also the President of Minna Polo Club said, sustaining the game of polo requires proactive investment and acknowledged the efforts of the founder of fifth chukker polo club, Adamu Atta for helping to preserve the culture.
The tournament had Golden brick mode beating Profile polo team by five and half goals against four to lift the UNICEF Cup.
In the other encounter decided, it was a thrilling match between Mangal polo club and Dan Marna oil and gas polo team with Dan marna triumphing by nine goals to six to lift the Bank Cup.
Farmer Umaru Bago then presented plagues and trophies to the runners up and winners of both categories of matches decided.
The event was witnessed by a large turn out of polo lovers including the speaker, House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abass, deputy governor of Kaduna State, Dr. Hadiza Sabuwa Balarabe, Emir of Katsina, Alhaji Abdulmumini Kabir Usman and the President, Katsina Polo club, SanusiKabir Usman
