The *Birnin-Gwari Vanguard for Security and Good Governance*, as a watchdog for security and good governance in Birnin-Gwari General Area, is compelled to address recent pockets of security incidents threatening the hard-earned peace deal achieved by the community, governments, and security agencies.
We call on the *Kaduna State Government* and the *Office of the National Security Adviser* to immediately commence the implementation of the Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration DDR mechanism.
A statement signed by Ibrahim Abubakar NaGwari Chairman Birnin-Gwari Vanguard for Security and Good Governance said this is critical to salvage the Kaduna Peace Model from collapse and sustain the relative peace currently being enjoyed.
The statement state categorically that at no time in the last two years have we witnessed any mass abduction of people in Birnin-Gwari. We condemn in the strongest terms the insinuations by prophets of doom that some returnees of Hajj 2026 were abducted along the Birnin-Gwari-Kaduna highway. These falsehoods are the imagination of antagonists of the peace gains witnessed in the last eighteen months.
We express concern over the politicisation of isolated breaches, such as the killing of commercial driver Ibrahim Adamu, despite the relative peace and free movement currently enjoyed along the Birnin-Gwari-Kaduna highway. Security challenges must not be weaponized for political gain.
We call on security agencies to adopt a synergy approach with security personnel within neighbouring states of Niger, Zamfara, and Katsina, from where elements infiltrate Birnin-Gwari General Area to sabotage peace.
The government must also expedite action on the immediate deployment of the envisaged Forest Guards, upon completion of their training, to all flashpoint areas to give maximum protection to farmers and consolidate peace.
We urge citizens of Birnin-Gwari to resist any attempt by desperate politicians working clandestinely to undermine peace gains. We also urge social media influencers to restrain from posting unverified information that ultimately batter the Kaduna Peace Model.
The peace we have built together must be protected by all.
