As part of ongoing efforts to enhance educational standards and improve infrastructure in Command Schools, the Ag CC Edn, Brig Gen Yusha’u Dogara Ahmed, conducted an assessment visit to Command Secondary Schools (CSSs) within 2 Division Nigerian Army Area of Responsibility.
A statement signed by Captain Abdullahi Lawal Osabo Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations.Headquarters Nigerian Army Education Corps, Lagos.said the assessment tour covered Command Day Secondary School (CDSS) Ede, CSS Ibadan, CDSS Mokola and CDSS Odogbo.
During the visit, Brig Gen Ahmed inspected key facilities, including classrooms, administrative blocks, students’ accommodation and other critical infrastructure required to support effective teaching and learning. At CDSS Ede, the Ag CC Edn, accompanied by the Commander, Engineer Construction Command Ede, Brig Gen Said Sarki Bello, assessed the ongoing AHQ/NAEC Welfare Intervention Project involving the construction of a block of four classrooms, which is currently 90 percent completed.
At CSS Ibadan, the Ag CC Edn inspected the Solar Farm established under the same welfare intervention initiative. The facility provides power support to the Computer Based Test Centre and the Closed Circuit Television Surveillance System, thereby reinforcing security within the school environment. The project has been completed and handed over to the school authority. Other facilities inspected include the Entrepreneurship Centre, dormitories and dining hall, among others.
Similarly, at CDSS Mokola, Brig Gen Ahmed inspected the classrooms, laboratories and a block of seven dilapidated classrooms with two offices earmarked for rehabilitation. At CDSS Odogbo, he assessed the ongoing roofing and ceiling works being executed under the AHQ/NAEC Welfare Intervention Project, which are currently 70 percent completed.
The Commandants of the various schools briefed the Ag CC Edn on their achievements, ongoing projects and challenges affecting their respective schools, while highlighting areas requiring further attention and support.
Brig Gen Ahmed appreciated the COAS for his continued support and commitment towards improving educational infrastructure in Command Schools. He noted that most of the ongoing projects are being executed through the support of AHQ and NAEC.
He assured the Commandants of continued support in addressing critical infrastructural and operational requirements. He further emphasized the need to sustain high educational standards and ensure that Command Schools continue to fulfil their mandate of providing quality education to the children of military personnel and members of the general public.
