The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 82 Division Nigerian Army and Commander Joint Task Force South East Operation UDO KA, Major General OA Fadairo, has emphasized the critical role of operational intelligence in preventing and responding to national crises, describing it as an indispensable tool in addressing contemporary security challenges.

Representing the GOC, the Commander 511 Quick Response Group, Air Commodore SP Sekegor, emphasized the vital role of operational intelligence in preventing and responding to national crises during the visit of participants of the Defence Intelligence College National Study Tour to Headquarters Joint Task Force South East Operation UDO KA, Obinze, Imo State, on 22 June 2026. The study tour, themed “Operational Intelligence for National Crises Prevention and Response,” reflects the growing importance of intelligence in addressing the complex and evolving security challenges confronting the nation.
According to him, the theme of the study tour is both timely and relevant, given the dynamic nature of Nigeria’s security environment. He stressed that intelligence remains a critical enabler in anticipating, preventing, and responding to security threats through effective collaboration with local communities and other stakeholders.
In his remarks, the Team Leader and the Director of Studies, Defence Intelligence College, Mr Jonathan Nyam, expressed appreciation to the General Officer Commanding 82 Division Nigerian Army and Commander Joint Task Force South East Operation UDO KA, Major General OA Fadairo, for hosting the study team. He also thanked the Headquarters Joint Task Force South East Operation UDO KA for the warm reception and the opportunity afforded the participants to gain firsthand knowledge of intelligence-led operations in the South East theatre.
The study team comprises of faculty members and 14 participants drawn from various security and law enforcement agencies. The participants comprised one officer each from the Nigerian Air Force and Nigerian Navy, seven personnel from the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA), and representatives from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
Earlier, the Chief of Operations (J3), Headquarters Joint Task Force South East Operation UDO KA, Colonel RO Kolawole, delivered a comprehensive brief to the study team on the operational activities of the Joint Task Force within its Area of Responsibility. The brief highlighted the security situation in the South East, the mandate and achievements of Operation UDO KA, as well as the critical role of intelligence in planning and executing ongoing operations.
Highlights of the visit included a vote of thanks, presentation of souvenirs, signing of the visitors’ book, and a group photograph. These activities provided an opportunity for both parties to further strengthen professional relationships and commemorate the successful conduct of the study tour.
