Niger State government has concluded arrangements for the Niger Flickers Hockey team ahead of the 2026 Nigeria Hockey Super League.
A statement signed by Bologi Ibrahim Chief press secretary to the Governor said Farmer governor Umaru Bago who received the team at the Niger State Governor’s Lodge reassured the team of the State government’s support to enable it succeed in the upcoming league.
The farmer governor reaffirmed his commitment to sports development across the State and charged the team to remain focused, hardworking and make the State proud by winning the League.
He emphasized that the State government under his leadership is prepared to provide all the necessary tools and logistical support to make them emerge victorious.
Chairman, Niger State Sports Commission, Danjuma Masu in his response acknowledged the farmer governor for his continuous support to the sporting industry in the State.
He disclosed that, the massive support from the farmer governor has given the team the much needed encouragement to battle for the coveted trophy.
The Chairman, Niger State Hockey Association, Danjuma Kolo was also part of the delegation that visited the farmer governor.
Niger flickers hockey club recently returned from Nairobi Kenya where they participated in the SIKH union centenary competition and won bronze.
The team will join 14 other teams to battle for honours at the 2026 Nigeria Hockey Super League (NHSL) which is slated to take place from June 25 to July 5, 2026 at the “Package B” Hockey Pitch of the National Stadium Abuja.
