The Federal University of Education (FUE), Zaria, is exploring a strategic partnership with the Centre for Domestic Training and Development (CDTD), Kenya, aimed at advancing vocational training, educational technology, research, and community development.
A statement signed by Sani Lawal maqarphy media aide to the VC said the initiative was discussed during a working visit by a delegation from FUE Zaria, led by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Yahaya Isa Bunkure, to the CDTD headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya, on Tuesday, 23 June 2026.
The engagement sought to identify areas of mutual interest and establish a framework for collaboration that would integrate the university’s academic expertise with CDTD’s community-based development programmes.
Discussions focused on five key areas: curriculum and training collaboration, technology-enhanced learning, decent work and skills development, research and capacity building, as well as empowerment and community outreach programmes.
CDTD is a renowned non-governmental organisation based in Nairobi with extensive experience in economic empowerment, domestic workers’ welfare, and social justice advocacy.
The organisation’s Executive Director, Ms. Edith Murogo, gained international recognition as a recipient of the 2024 Trafficking in Persons Report Hero Award, presented by the then United States Secretary of State, Antony J. Blinken.
During the meeting, the Vice-Chancellor and members of his delegation held fruitful discussions with Ms. Murogo and Mr. Chrispin Kimani on potential areas of collaboration and implementation strategies.
The proposed partnership aims to leverage the university’s academic and technical expertise alongside CDTD’s practical experience to promote human capital development, enhance educational access, and strengthen community engagement across the region.
At the end of the discussion, both parties agreed to continue discussions on the operational framework, funding opportunities, and programme design required to formalise and implement the partnership.
The Vice-Chancellor was accompanied by the Acting Registrar, Malam Shehu Iya Sa’idu; Director of the TETFund Centre of Excellence for Technology-Enhanced Learning (TeCETEL), Prof. Ilesanmi Ajibola; and Dean of Faculty of Vocational and Technical Education, Prof. Kabir Haruna Danja.
