The All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship Candidate in Gombe State, Dr. Jamil Isyaku Gwamna, has commended Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, for his commitment to agricultural development in the State, following the official flag-off of fertiliser sales and farm inputs distribution.
A statement signed by Ibrahim Sani shawai media aide to the gubernatorial candidate, said Dr. Gwamna gave the commendation while speaking with journalists shortly after the launch of the programme, which entails the distribution of over 12,000 metric tons of fertiliser procured by the state government and made available to farmers at a highly subsidised rate of 50 per cent.
He described the initiative as a bold and strategic intervention that underscores the Governor’s resolve to strengthen agriculture—an essential sector that remains the backbone of Gombe State’s economy and the primary source of livelihood for the majority of its citizens.
According to Dr. Gwamna, the fertiliser distribution programme, alongside the provision of critical farming equipment at no cost to farmers, will significantly reduce production costs, improve yields, and enhance overall agricultural productivity across the state.
The APC gubernatorial candidate further applauded the administration’s broader agricultural transformation agenda, highlighting key investments in crop and livestock development through impactful initiatives and partnerships such as the Special Agro-Livestock Processing Zone (SAPZ), ACReSAL, RAAMP, and L-PRES.
He noted that these programmes are already yielding measurable outcomes, including improved food security, job creation, rural development, and sustainable economic growth.
Dr. Gwamna further expressed strong confidence in Gombe State’s development trajectory, emphasising that sustained investment in agriculture and other critical sectors remains pivotal to achieving long-term prosperity, stability, and inclusive growth.
He reaffirmed that ongoing reforms and targeted interventions in the agricultural sector will continue to enhance livelihoods and consolidate Gombe State’s position as a leading agricultural hub in Nigeria.
