The Adamawa state Gubernatorial flag bearer of the peoples Democratic party, PDP for the 2027 election, Chief Maurice Vonobolki has declared that era of political god-fatherism has ended in the state.
Vonobolki made the declaration at Yola international airport in an interview with journalists shortly after his arrival from Abuja where he went and collected his governorship certificate of return from the National Secretariat of the PDP as part of crateria to vie for elective post.
Vonobolki stressed that,”the cancer called God-fatherism” has since been eradicated since the emergence of Gov. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri in 2019 election for him emerged victorious without any big man behind his candidature rather the support and mandate of Adamawa electorate.
“We are going to bring an end to the politics of God-fatherism. People of Adamawa state, our state, you, yourself will own your government by yourself. After all, government is for the people, by the people, and for the people.
Government is for what? For the people, by the people, and for the people. So, when we go high, they go up. When they go low, we also go low.
He emphasized that, the PDP party has provided a platform for all its members interested to contest for any elective post of their choices but some aggrieved members especially Aspirants who couldn’t make it in race are creating unnecessary utterances to confuse party members.
He added that,now that various rightful candidates have emerged through the laid down procedures in the party PDP and Independent National Electoral Com mission, INEC will naturally address all the misconception about who is what in the contest.
He noted that the certificates of return presented to those who won the contest signals that there is no faction in the PDP in Adamawa State rather the party is with a very big umbrella that can accommodate as many people as possible calling on every one to enter the big umbrella party until victory is attained in the forthcoming 2027 general elections.
“We’re not here to campaign. We’re here only to present our certificates of return to all our members in Adamawa State,as that will tackle the final misrepresentatio ns of facts and propaganda that has been wielded all over Nigeria.
“PDP remains one political party all over Nigeria under the leadership of Honorable Abraham Mohammed, who is the national chairman, and Senator Samuel A. as national secretary in Nigeria.
“Therefore, the National Executive Council,NEC of the party sat down few days ago to ratify the primary elections of the PDP across Nigeria, in which Adamawa State candidates were part of it.
“And on behalf of all other candidates of PDP in Adamawa State, I present my certificate of return to all the members of the PDP in Adamawa, and to see that the fact that PDP is one and big family to accommodate all.
“All our candidates,in the forthcoming general elections received the certificates of return, and also received the forms from INEC to fill as being nominated to start elections as candidate of PDP in the 2027 general elections. So we congratulate PDP all over Nigeria.
“We extend our hand of fellowship to all other members of PDP that feel aggrieved to come back home. PDP offers a big umbrella that can accommodate as many as would like to come back into our fault, we are not in contests or argument with anybody.
“We are focused on delivering PDP for victory in the forthcoming generation by the grace of God. Therefore, it is my principal belief that the people of Adamawa State will own their state by themselves”. Vonobolki reiterated.
It could be recalled that the PDP in the state has been experiencing internal wranglings over the factionalization with some claiming to be loyal Nyesom Wike faction while others are said to be loyal to Kabir Tanimu Turaki’s faction but the recent registration of candidates through form EC9 by INEC, then automatically authentic candidate names will soon be released on INEC portal for 2027 polls.
