…Auren Gata Fulfils Our Promise to Citizens—Gov Yusuf

Katsina State Governor and Chairman of the North-West Governors’ Forum, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, on Saturday attended the Auren Gata mass wedding programme organised by the Kano State Government in collaboration with the Kano Hisbah Board.

A statement signed by Ibrahim kaula Mohammad chief press secretary to the Governor said, Governor Radda said governments have a responsibility to support citizens and improve community wellbeing. He described the Auren Gata programme as a community-focused intervention aimed at helping families get started.

He noted that the programme responds to the needs of citizens and reflects a commitment to supporting families.

“When we took the oath of office, we pledged to serve the people and work for their well-being. Initiatives like this show that commitment in action,” he added.

Governor Radda assured Kano State of the full support of the North-West Governors’ Forum. He said programmes that promote family stability and social support are welcome across the region.

The Governor also appreciated religious leaders, traditional rulers, the business community and other stakeholders for their guidance and support to the beneficiaries.

He commended scholars for their teachings on marriage, family values, patience and mutual responsibility, saying such contributions encourage governments to implement people-centered programmes.

Governor Radda reaffirmed the commitment of North-West Governors to policies that promote development, peace and stability in communities.

He congratulated the 1,500 newly married couples and urged them to build their homes on love, patience, mutual respect and understanding.

Kano State Governor, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, said the Auren Gata programme was part of his administration’s promise to support families across the 44 Local Government Areas and 484 wards.

He stated that the state government committed resources to the programme to provide medical screening, marriage support and welfare packages for the couples.

According to him, each couple received support for dowry and business start-up, as well as household items to help them begin their new lives. He added that beneficiaries also participated in counselling, workshops and seminars to prepare them for family life.

Governor Abba urged the couples to uphold the teachings of the Holy Qur’an and the Sunnah, and to embrace patience, fairness and peaceful coexistence in their homes.

The event featured sermons and prayers by respected Islamic scholars including Sheikh Sani Yahaya Jingir, Sheikh Bashir Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi, and Sheikh Kabir Haruna Gombe.

Dignitaries present included Jigawa State Governor, Alhaji Umar Namadi; Kebbi State Deputy Governor Senator Umar Tafida, Sokoto Deputy Governor, Alhaji Idris Mohammed Gobir; Kano Deputy Governor, Alhaji Murtala Sule Garo, former Kano Governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Shekarau; APC National Organising Secretary, Alhaji Sulaiman Mohammed Argungu; and Katsina Chief of Staff, Hon. Abdulkadir Mamman Nasir.

Also in attendance were federal and state lawmakers, members of Katsina and Kano State Executive Councils, traditional rulers, religious leaders, representatives of the diplomatic and business communities, development partners, civil society groups and security agencies.
