In an energetic and prowess event, the troops of 4 Special Forces Command Garrison showcased themselves at the 4 Special Forces Command Inter-Brigade Combat Proficiency Competition 2026 as they won the competition. The 5-day event which kicked-off from 17 August 2026 at 401 Special Forces Brigade, Makurdi.
A statement signed by Captain Tayo Oluwafemi,Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations 401 Special Forces BrigadeNigerian Army said the competition which drew participants from 4 Special Forces Command Garrison Doma and 401 Special Forces Brigade Makurdi witnessed exceptional leadership, technical prowess, and teamwork in Shooting/Weapon Handling, Combat Swimming, Map Reading, Half Country Enduring Race/Physical Fitness and Obstacle Crossing.
The Special Guest of Honour, Commander 4 Special Forces Command, Major General Olurotimi Awolo in his speech said “the stunning outing is in no doubt a culmination of hard work, discipline, and resourcefulness put in various levels of preparation by various participants”, while emphasizing on training as the bedrock of the military profession.
He said; lessons learnt, observations as well as the new skills brought out during the competition will be an added value to training and operations within the Nigeria Army at large. He further added that areas of weaknesses would be strengthened as well as consolidated upon.
In all, 4 Special Forces Command Garrison Doma came in first position with a total score of 480 points while 401 Special Forces Brigade Makurdi came in second position with a total score of 470 points.
In attendance were the General Officer Commanding 5 Division/Force Commander Operations Whirl Stroke, Major General Moses Gara, Special Adviser to Benue State Governor on External Security Matters, Lieutenant Colonel Alex Igbaya (Retired), heads of services and security agencies, principal staff officers from military formations amongst others.
Highlights of the event were distinct crossing of horizontal/vertical rope by the Special Guest of Honour showing leadership by example, presentation of awards and trophies to the outstanding formations, medals to individuals who distinguished themselves during the competition, presentation of souvenirs as well as group photograph.
