A high-powered committee tasked with harmonising and standardising existing innovations in training across all Nigerian Army Depots undertook an official working visit to Depot Nigerian Army (NA), Amasiri-Edda on 21 August 2026.
A statement signed by Captain Sarah Seth Barka Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relation,Depot Nigerian Army Amasiri-Edda said the visit is part of the Army’s ongoing transformation efforts to realign training curricula with contemporary security challenges and ensure uniformity across its training institutions .
Upon arrival, the Committee was received by the Commandant, Brigadier General Ahmed Ahmadu, his staff officers and Instructors of the Depot. The highlights of the visit was a comprehensive operational and administrative brief by the Commandant. The brief provided the Committee with an in-depth insight on the Depot’s operational and administrative activities , which is critical to its mission of producing disciplined and combat-ready soldiers .
In his remarks, the Chairman of the Committee Major General Nnaemeka Ogili stressed that all three NA Depots which include Depot NA Zaria, Depot NA Osogbo and Depot NA Amasiri-Edda are critical pillars of the President and Commander-In- Chief’s approved manpower expansion initiative and it is only through harmonised training across all three Depots that the NA manpower mandates can be achieved in order to effectively and consistently produce combat-ready soldiers at the scale required to tackle the nation’s security challenges.
General Ogili emphasised that standardising training innovations across all Depots is essential for achieving the Chief of Army Staff’s vision of a professional, adaptable and resilient force . He further commended the Commandant for his dynamic approach to training, he also applauded the commandant’s team adding that what he has seen on ground here at the temporary training site is highly commendable.
The Chairman reiterated the importance of data analysis for performance measurement and impact assessment. He concluded by congratulating the Commandant for his efforts of transforming this temporary training area within the short period of 8 months to what it is now, adding that his work is deeply appreciated by the NA. He urged all the officers and instructors to key into the vision of the Commandant and learn from it.
The visit also featured a detailed tour of the training areas and facilities, allowing the Committee to assess the training infrastructures firsthand and observe the training standards being imparted to recruits . The tour reinforced the depot’s operational readiness and its capacity to contribute to national security. The event concluded with the signing of the Visitor’s Book and a group photograph, marking a successful engagement aimed at enhancing the quality of training across the Depot NA.
