The Kebbi State House of Assembly has passed into law “The Kebbi State Harmonized Taxes and Levies (Approval List for Collections) Bill of 2026,” aimed at streamlining revenue collection across the state.

The bill was passed during the Assembly’s plenary session on Thursday, following the presentation of a report by the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, chaired by Adamu Muhammad Birnin Yauri, representing Ngaski Constituency.

The plenary was presided over by the Majority Leader of the House, Faruku Aliyu Nassarawa Jega.

The Assembly resolved into the Committee of the Whole house for further scrutiny of the bill after the committee’s report was presented on the floor of the House.

The Majority Leader, Faruku Nassarawa Jega, informed members that during the Committee of the Whole house, members had agreed on the contents of the bill as presented.

Subsequently, the leader read the bill for the third time, alongside the report, and it was passed into law after a motion was moved and seconded by members of the Assembly.

Speaking on the development, Adamu Muhammad Birnin Yauri, Chairman House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, said that once the bill is assented to by the State Governor, it will harmonize all state taxes and levies under one umbrella.

The passage of the bill is expected to bring about a more coordinated and efficient tax administration system in Kebbi State, eliminating duplication and multiple taxation once it receives the Governor’s assent
