Gov Mai Mala Buni of Yobe says the state is committed to conducting hitch free local government elections on Saturday, Sept. 26.
Buni, represented by his deputy, Alhaji Idi Barde Gubana, stated this during the state Security Council Meeting in Damaturu on Friday.
He said the meeting was summoned to consolidate the security gains recorded in the state and address grey areas ahead of the Saturday’s elections.
Briefing journalists after the meeting, the state. Commissioner of Police, Usman Jibrin, said adequate security personnel were deployed across the state to ensure free and fair elections.
He said arrangements were made to accompany eligible voters in clusters to their polling units across the state.
“ Everyone that has registered and eligible to vote will be escorted to his home town to exercise his franchise
“ Come out en-mass and vote. There should be no fear of anything. We are ready to go,” he said.
Jibrin urged parents to caution their children against allowing themselves to used as political thugs.
The commissioner equally charged community leaders to cooperate with security operatives and report suspicious movements of persons to security agencies.
