A donation of N100 Million by the Adamawa state gov’ship candidate of the Labour party (LP), Senator Ishaku Abbo as part of the 2027 general elections was greeted with misgivings and misconceptions in the political landscape in the state.
The leadership of the party conducted a critical stakeholders meeting where both state working committee, local and ward executives resolved to work for the success of the party held at the party’s Secretariat on Wednesday where the gubernatorial hopeful Senator Abbo made the donation publicly. A situation believed to captured attention of all and sundry.
Little did the party knows,an allegedly framed or Artificial Intelligence graphic designed receipts were generated by yet to be ascertained mischief makers and posted virally on the social media platforms showing that the party’s governorship candidate, Senator Ishaku Abbo, transferred N100 million to the personal account of the party chairman.
Reacting to the development while addressing journalists on Thursday, the chairman of the party, Hon. Theman Jonah Kalpenge described the posted documents as fictitious stressing that
those circulating the receipts were unfamiliar with the financial procedures governing political parties
Kalpenge declared that, the N100 million was indeed received but paid into the party’s official account hence some mischievous elements exploited the social media space with crapted lies.
“Those spreading such receipts are ignorant of the official workings of political parties. That is why they ignorantly generated fake receipts showing a N100 million transaction between me and the governorship candidate.
“Some posted GTBank receipts, some OPay receipts and all sorts of receipts. The truth is that he sent the N100 million, but through the official party account, and we have received it and will use it for the purpose intended,” Kalpenge emphasized.
He reiterated that the party was fully prepared for the 2027 contest, citing its political goodwill, grassroots appeal, financial capacity and manpower as key resources for the campaign.
“Our party is good to go. We have the goodwill, appeal, financial strength and manpower to campaign and win all the elections,” he added
On the level of preparation for the 2027, the Chairman explained that the party is fully ready for the contest highlighting that the party has fielded 27 contestants in to various political positions including the governorship seat, Senatorial,house of representative and state Assembly seats.
He expressed confidence that the party is strategically positioned to secure a comprehensive victory in the 2027 general elections adding that LP is a grassroot based platform with network in the 226 wards.
“While other political parties are going through numerous crises, Adamawa Labour Party is enjoying unprecedented peace, conviviality and unity.
“At a time when some political parties have several factions while others are witnessing massive defections, LP, from remains the only party without any crisis and poised to go into the election with vigour, vitality and massive grassroots appeal.
“We have no doubt that our party will win the election with alandslide,” Kalpenge said.
