Ahead of the 2027 General elections, the New Nigeria peoples party,NNPP has merged with the Social Democratic party SDP to ensure victory of the SDP guber-candidate,Christopher Nathaniel in Adamawa state.

Speaking on behalf of the decampees from NNPP in the state, Dr. Mustapha Mohammad Abbo said their decision was informed because of Nathaniel’s proposed policies and political blueprint for Adamawa State which they believe is the best of the state.
Abbo expressed confidence that the SDP candidate has the capacity, experience and connections to move the state forward and to consolidate on the already achievements recorded by the previous and outgoing governments.
They made the declaration of joining SDP during the official unveiling of Dr. Fauziyah Ahmed Rufai as the Deputy governorship candidate of the party for the 2027 general election.
The unveiling which coincides with the SDP Stakeholders Consultative Open Joint Session Meeting, had in attendance party leaders, stakeholders, candidates, officials and supporters of the party with the aim to strengthen internal coordination and chart a common course ahead of the election.
Dr. Rufai was presented to the party stakeholders as the running mate to the SDP Governorship Candidate, Christopher Nathaniel, marking another major step in the party’s preparations for the governorship contest.
Speaking at the meeting, Chief Nathaniel described the choice of Dr. Rufai as one decision reached after careful consideration of the qualities, experience and capacity required to complement the governorship ticket and contribute to the development of the State.
Dr. Rufai, a Petroleum Geologist,Universi ty lecturer and researcher, brings an academic and professional background to the ticket. Her emergence also places a woman in a prominent position on the SDP governorship ticket. Christopher said.

The consultative session provided an opportunity for stakeholders to reaffirm the need for unity, cooperation and an issue-focused campaign as the party intensifies its engagement across Adamawa State.
With the formal unveiling of Dr. Fauziyah Ahmed Rufai, PhD, the SDP governorship ticket of Christopher Nathaniel and Fauziyah Ahmed Rufai has now been presented to party stakeholders as the party continues preparations for the2027 election.
