…Scores 80 Points, Records Strong Performance in National Ranking
Gombe State, under the leadership of Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, has again been recognised among the states making notable progress in open government implementation, stakeholder engagement and participatory governance, recording a strong 80-point performance in the latest national subnational governance assessment.
This was contained in a statement signed by Ismaila Uba Misilli Director-General ( Press Affairs) Government House Gombe issued to newsmen.
It said the recognition is contained in the third-quarter 2026 Subnational Status Ranking released by the Open Government Partnership (OGP) Nigeria, which placed Gombe among states recording notable progress in the implementation of open government principles.
The assessment measures key indicators, including the presence of a State Action Plan (SAP), multi-stakeholder forums, a functional secretariat, online platforms and evidence of high-level political commitment.

The performance of Gombe reflects Inuwa Yahaya’s continued efforts to strengthen institutional mechanisms that promote citizen participation, openness, accountability and inclusive governance.
It also underscores the commitment of the administration of Governor Inuwa Yahaya to creating an enabling environment for citizens and stakeholders to participate meaningfully in governance and development processes.
The latest recognition comes against the backdrop of the administration’s sustained efforts to strengthen governance institutions, deepen stakeholder engagement and promote transparency in the implementation of government policies and programmes.

By recording 80 points, Gombe is placed among the states demonstrating progress in institutionalising key components of the open-government framework, alongside other subnational governments recognised in the assessment.
Building on this progress, the administration of Governor Inuwa Yahaya remains committed to strengthening the state’s governance structures, expanding citizen participation and ensuring that government remains responsive to the needs and aspirations of the people.
