The Commandant Nigerian Army College of Logistics and Management (NACOLM) Major General Adewale Collins Adetoba has tasked students of Senior Leadership and Staff Officers’ Course (SLSOC) 4 of 2026 to focus and maintain teamwork. This, he said, would help them surmount the rigours of the course. He disclosed this during the inauguration ceremony of the course held at the NACOLM main campus in Ojo Monday, 13 April 2026.
A statement signed by Major Innocent Oche Audu college public relations officer Nigerian Army college of logistics and management said the Commandant also noted that the inauguration ceremony is proof of a new chapter marking the beginning of their career as staff trained officers. This he added would afford them the opportunity to hold logistics, administration, and operation appointments in their various units and formations.
Major General Adetoba further pointed out that NACOLM was established in December 2002 with the initial mandate to train Logisticians for the Nigerian Army (NA). But then, the NA in recognition of the importance to train officers of Direct Regular Commissioned on Leadership and Staff Duties to further enhance their capacity introduced two new courses, the Senior Leadership and Staff Officers Course and the Junior Leadership and Staff Officers Course in 2022. As a result of this, the mandate of the College was expanded “to produce efficient logisticians and staff-trained officers with requisite leadership skills that are capable of effectively discharging their duties in both Joint and combined military operations at foundation and higher levels using contemporary management concepts and techniques.” The Commandant disclosed that the course is the fourth to be conducted by the College for senior officers of the rank of majors.
He also reiterated that the course would help fulfil the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu NAM Command philosophy which is “to advance the transformation of the NA into a more professional adaptable combat-ready and resilient force capable of decisively discharging its constitutional responsibilities within a joint and multi-agency environment.” He therefore urged the students to see the course as a deliberate gesture to enhance their career. He further appreciated the COAS for his continuous support and guidance to the College. Adding that since his assumption of office as COAS, he has graciously approved the completion of TA Lagbaja Complex, correction of the electrical issues at the Faruk Yahaya Auditorium and construction of borehole as well as the erection of reverse osmosis at NACOLM Ojo and Moloney Campuses respectively.
He also urged the students to desist from indulging themselves in plagiarism and academic fraud. He emphasized the need for them to be original and acknowledged sources in their works as the College does not compromise cheating.
The Commandant delivered an inaugural lecture titled “Ethical Leadership in Military Logistics: Enhancing Sustainment in Brittle, Anxious, Non-linear and Incomprehensible (BANI) Environment.” During the lecture, he posited that ethical leadership affects logistics performance by fostering trust within and outside the organization, improving the quality of decision-making under uncertainty, strengthening compliance, and risk management. Adding that, ethical leadership in military logistics plays a critical determinant for operational success in today’s BANI environment. He also submitted that continuous learning enables leaders to adapt ethically in BANI conditions. The inaugural lecture had in attendance senior officers, members of professional bodies, and partners of the College.
The Chairman of the Inauguration Committee Navy Captain CN Ijeh, while delivering the vote of thanks, appropriated the Commandant for the thoroughly researched and well delivered lecture. He also thanked the Commandant for his guidance and tireless efforts in ensuring that the College continued to actualize its mandate. He reassured him of the commitment of the members of Faculty and Administrative staff to continue to strive hard to achieve the Commandant’s vision for the College.
