The Adamawa state government has pledged to harness the tourism potentials available in the state with a view to attracting tourists and investors.

Commissioner of Culture and Tourism, Hon.Aloysious Babadoke disclosed the development in Yola on Thursday while marking the 2026 world tourism Day ceremony stressing that the state observes the anniversary to preserving the diverse traditions of its people and promoting them to visitors from within and outside Nigeria.
Babadoke said the celebration reflects the Fintiri administration’s commitment to promoting culture and tourism as avenues for economic growth, job creation and social development, while highlighting the Governor’s planned modern amusement park in Yola.
Babadoke said that the colourful cultural displays witnessed during the celebration as evidence of Adamawa’s enormous tourism potential noting that traditional institutions, including emirates and chiefdoms, had continued to play an important role in preserving the state’s cultural heritage.
Babadoke listed some of the state’s notable tourism attractions, including the Elephant House Sukur Kingdom and Kiri Dam, among others cultural and natural sites with potential for tourism development.
He said the government’s investments in culture and tourism were already beginning to yield positive results, pointing to what he described as sustained growth in revenue generated by the sector over the past three years.

“This is our fourth time celebrating the cultural day, and we will continue to celebrate it in the next five to ten years because we want our people, especially the younger generation, to understand and appreciate our culture,” he said.
The event brought together government officials, cultural groups, tourism enthusiasts, civil society organisations, and representatives of the state’s Emirates and Chiefdoms as well as colourful cultural displays and a procession from the Fire Service Underpass in Jimeta to Unity Flyover.
