    Adamawa government relaxes curfew in war torn lamurde local government.

    The Adamawa State Government has Relaxes Curfew in Lamurde Local government area following improved security situation due to prolonged communal clashes between Bachama and chobo Communities disputed farmland and creation of chiefdom.

    Recall that the communal crisis between the two (Bachama/Chobo) began last year in June and has continued unabated resulting to destruction of properties and loss of lives from both sides of the devide as the government tried to broker peace by establishing administrative and judicial committees to get to the roots of the clash and recommend proper solutions.

    Chief Press secretary to Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, Humwashi Wonosikou dropped the hint in Yola on Tuesday stressing that the government has noticed improvement of security in the hostile environment urging residents to Sustain Peaceful co-existence in the area.

    “Following a review of the security situation and the noticeable improvement in Lamurde Local Government Area, the Adamawa State Government has approved the relaxation of the curfew earlier imposed on the area following the prolonged crisis.

    “Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri,said that the relaxed curfew takes immediate effect and will now be in force from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. daily until further notice.

    “The Governor commended the people of Lamurde for their cooperation with security agencies and for the gradual restoration of calm in the area.

    “This improvement reflects the value of the decisive measures taken by government to halt the violence and restore normalcy,” Governor Fintiri said.

    “While announcing the relaxation, the Governor warned that the Government would not tolerate any further breach of the peace. He urged residents to sustain the prevailing calm and refrain from any actions capable of reversing the gains recorded so far.

    “Governor Fintiri reaffirmed the commitment of the Adamawa State Government to restoring lasting peace in Lamurde and ensuring the continued safety and security of lives and property across the state.

    “To this end, security agencies have been directed to maintain a strong presence and enforce law and order in the area. Residents are therefore advised to remain law-abiding and not test the resolve of the Government.

    “The Governor noted that Adamawa State is renowned for its enduring culture of peace, tolerance, and unity. He called on community leaders, traditional institutions, youth and women groups, and all residents to embrace dialogue, uphold the rule of law, and work collectively to ensure that Lamurde and the entire state remain peaceful, secure, and prosperous”. Wonosikou emphasized.
