The Gubernatorial candidate of the African Democratic Congress ADC in the 2027 general elections in Katsina State, Distinguished Senator Ahmad Babba Kaita has sent out his sympathy to students of Government Science Secondary School, Batagarawa, their parents and the Batagarawa community over yesterday’s unfortunate catastrophic health issues that affected the students.

A statement signed by Abubakar Ahmed Spokesman ABK Campaign Office said  although circumstances still remain sketchy, a report by the Daily Trust newspaper (27/10/2026) said the students were administered drugs against bilharzia, a urinary related disease.

The same newspaper in the same report also quoted the Commissioner of Education confirming the calamity and that the affected 65 students were responding to treatment.

Sixty five is certainly too big a number to ignore over what seemed to be a fatal healthcare issue, moreover that a video clip trending on social media platforms showed some of the victims struggling for survival cannot be overlooked but condemned in totality.

The ADC gubernatorial candidate therefore calls for immediate investigation into the matter with a view of bringing all those that have a hand in the issue to book in order to serve as deterrent to others.

He also urged the state government and those responsible to expand the investigation into other schools and communities especially those in rural areas that may have been administered similar drugs so that urgent safety measures can be  offered to them.
