The Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC), Nigeria, commenced Exercise HASKE BIYU 2026 at the AVM AO Ogundana Officers’ Mess, Jaji, with a call for stronger collaboration among security agencies, government institutions and communities in addressing Nigeria’s evolving security challenges.
The Exercise, themed “Building Resilient Communities Through Effective Security Sector Collaboration,” is designed to provide participants with a realistic training environment for examining contemporary internal security and low-intensity conflict challenges, including terrorism, insurgency, violent extremism, organised crime, communal conflicts, kidnapping and other subversive threats.
Welcoming participants to the opening ceremony, the Commandant AFCSC, Air Vice Marshal AO Shogbanmu, described Exercise HASKE BIYU as one of the College’s flagship practical exercises designed to translate theoretical knowledge into realistic planning and decision-making. He noted that the Exercise has evolved into a strategic platform that brings together government institutions, security and intelligence agencies, emergency responders, academia, civil society organisations, the private sector and other stakeholders.
